Advantages of Boarding Schools for Girls

Preteen and teenage girls face many distractions as part of the growing up process, and sometimes this gets in the way of academic endeavors; one of the advantages of boarding schools for girls is that a primary distraction is removed in the form of boys.

Public schools can offer great educations. However, many extracurricular distractions are also present along with the normal subjects. The opposite sex begins to affect humans at a very early age, as soon as the differences between boys and girls are fully realized. Some children get through the extended phases of puberty quite well without any problems, but sometimes a little deviance is required to ensure that the young ladies are receiving the education they need to place them in the competitive business world.

Boarding schools have often been thought of as being options only for the rich and famous. While in a dollar sense these establishments may be pricier, when matching dollar against the value of the experience, it may end up seeming like the less expensive choice in the long run. Often, in the public school arena, children tend to be swallowed up in the sheer numbers of students that attend. This type of anonymity can lead to feelings of worthlessness along with lack of self esteem and self confidence. Large classroom sizes frequently mean that individual needs are left unmet by teachers as they simply attempt to get the majority of students on to the next level. Bullying and cliques are often the atmosphere in which these children spend each day. Leaving the public school system, many are unprepared for the world of competitive job seekers into which they are propelled.

Removing many of the distractions, gender stereotypes and social pressures found in public schools is the goal of boarding schools. For girls ranging in age between 10 and 18, single sex schools that focus on academic achievement and personal fulfillment can mean the difference between and underage pregnancy and a successful, confident woman. They are encouraged to participate in athletic as well as creative pursuits as well to round out the school profile. Finding more strong female role models assist these young girls in developing the characteristics that bring about confidence and success in later years.

Boarding schools for girls serve to develop great attributes in the young women who attend. Scholastically forward and socially adept, these young ladies will be well prepared for a smooth transition to a college environment as well as their lives afterward.
